Taken from the ancient Greek story, the title and theme of this bronze sculpture is the artist's way of stating a woman's dilemma of birthing beings into existence. As the story goes, Pandora opens a gift box after being forewarned of the dangers, releasing infinite spiritual possibilities, often unimaginable. As with women, the risk or joy aligned with physically bringing souls into being, to live out lives of their own spiritual content, adds weight and content to their task. |
This Work defines the duality of perception and the individual's struggle to dispel those bindings. This sculpture captures the emotional, albeit spiritual, limitation imposed by another's lack of understanding. Misconception is the counterpoint of individual truth, it is the interference with our individual freedom to become who we are, truthfully. We inhibit the process, spiritual evolution, when we fail to correctly communicate. We are only free to move forward with our individual life paths, when we dispel incorrect perceptions. |
